IOS · 1,000 SPECIES AT LAUNCH

Every animal you see is a card you don't have yet.

Bagged is a card collection of real animals. Point your camera at something living, and if it's really there it becomes a card only you own — your photo, your date, your serial number.

THE SPREAD

A pigeon is not a peregrine.

All 1,000 species are graded, and the grade is what makes a walk worth taking. Most of what you meet is Common. Fourteen things in the world are Secret.

01 — THE CATCH

Point at it. That's the whole game.

Raise the camera, frame the animal, fire the shutter. The species is identified, scored and added to your collection before you've put your phone back in your pocket.

  • Your photo, cut out. The animal is lifted off its background on-device and set into the card art.
  • It has to be alive and it has to be there. Photos of screens, of zoo enclosures and of yesterday are all turned away.
  • Not sure? It asks. When two species are genuinely close, Bagged shows you the candidates instead of guessing.
  • Rarity is scored server-side. The bounty a catch pays is decided by the backend, never by the phone.

02 — THE CARDS

One card per catch. Not one per species.

Catch a red fox twice and you hold two foxes — two photos, two dates, two serial numbers. Every card is a record of a specific morning.

  • Numbered forever. № 000704 says this was the 704th time anyone bagged that species. It never gets reissued.
  • Real stats. Top speed, weight, threat level and bounty, plus a fact about the animal you probably didn't know.
  • It turns over once. A species' first catch does a full ceremonial spin the first time you look at it — once, in its life.
  • Yours to name. Nickname a card, sticker it, share it, or release it.
A single card in detail — Common Pipistrelle, #001, serial № 000704

03 — THE INDEX

A thousand slots, and a shadow in each one.

The full dex is open from day one — but nothing you haven't found will tell you its name. An empty slot gives you a shape and a number, and leaves the rest to you.

  • Built on real data. The 1,000 species come from GBIF occurrence records, not a wishlist.
  • Filter by anything. Captured, mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, insects, molluscs and more.
  • A silhouette is the whole hint. Open a locked slot and it still won't name the animal — just its number, its kind, and ??? where the name goes.
  • Rarity stays secret too. You're never told how hard something is to find, because that would tell you how hard to look.
  • The 14 Secrets don't even show a shape. No silhouette, no number, no lock. You find them by finding them.

04 — THE WORLD

Your year, plotted.

Every catch drops a pin where you made it, coloured by what you found. Scroll back over a summer and the map reads like a diary.

  • Clustered by rarity. The colour of a cluster tells you the best thing inside it before you tap.
  • Blurred on purpose. Locations are fuzzed to roughly 100 metres, and friends only ever see your country.
  • Quests use it. "Catch in 3 places" and "Catch in 3 different countries" are read straight off the map.

05 — THE QUESTS

A reason to go out today.

Three fresh daily quests, a rotating long-term set, and a weekly box for clearing ten. All of it pays Quest Points, which build toward a crown.

  • Dailies reset every night. Big game, Wanderer, Quick five — small asks, an evening each.
  • Long-term goals. Discover 25 new species. Catch in 3 different countries. Worth 500 and 750 QP.
  • Quest Points only ever go up. There's no shop and nothing to spend them on — they exist to earn crowns.

06 — THE BOARD

Everyone starts again on Monday.

The weekly leaderboard ranks bounty earned since Monday morning, in your country, globally, or among friends. The all-time board never forgets.

  • Your country by default. Being 14th in the UK is a real position; being 40,000th in the world is not.
  • You're always pinned. Your own row sticks to the bottom of the board wherever you actually sit.
  • Crowns and ranks show. Every row carries its collector rank and crown, so you can see what you're up against.

07 — THE RECORD

Everything you've done, on one screen.

Your profile is the honest summary: species found, bounty earned, where you stand, and exactly which corners of the animal kingdom you've been neglecting.

  • Broken down by rarity. 22 of 400 Common is a very different story from 1 of 14 Secret.
  • And by type. Mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects, arachnids, molluscs — see where the gaps are.
  • Named on day one. You get a username like SneakyOtter42 the moment you sign up. Change it whenever.

HOW YOU'RE MEASURED

Three scores. None of them buy each other.

Most games funnel everything into one number you can grind. Bagged keeps three separate tracks, because they measure genuinely different things.

TRACK 01

Bounty

Earned by catching, and by nothing else. Rarer animals pay more. This is the number the leaderboard ranks you on.

WEEKLY · RESETS MONDAY
TRACK 02

Quest Points

Earned by quests, and by nothing else. Never spent, never lost, never shown on the board. Their only job is the crown ladder.

LIFETIME · ONLY GOES UP
TRACK 03

Collector rank

Simply how many distinct species you've found. It can't be bought, it can't be rushed, and it's the one people will ask about.

SPECIES COUNT · 11 RUNGS

They never convert. No amount of catching buys a crown, and no number of quests moves you up the board. Each one has to be earned in its own currency.

THE FOOD CHAIN

From plankton to apex.

Eleven ranks, earned only by finding species you've never found before. The last one is the entire index.

Plankton 1
Tadpole 5
Pigeon 15
Stray Cat 30
Fox 60
Wolf 100
Eagle 200
Croc 350
Tiger 500
Orca 750
Apex 1,000
